Job Description

At Layton Aquarium and Wildlife Center, we are passionate about providing our guests with unforgettable experiences while fostering a fun and educational environment for all. We are currently seeking a dedicated Guest Services/Cashier to join our team and help create a welcoming atmosphere for our visitors. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Provide friendly, efficient, and personalized service to all guests. 
  • Promote and sell memberships, premium animal interactions, gift shop products, birthday parties, and other services. 
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices 
  • Assist with daily operational tasks, such as inventory checks, cleaning, and special events, as needed. 
  • Process cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized cashier area, ensuring products are stocked and displayed 
  • Handle customer concerns with patience and empathy, striving for the best possible resolution. 
  • Meet or exceed sales goals and performance targets 
  • Help in-store visual merchandising and displays to enhance product visibility 
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety guidelines and store policies 
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to improve product knowledge and sales techniques 


Qualifications:
 

  • Previous experience in customer service, sales, or retail is required 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or retail experience is a plus 
  • A friendly and approachable demeanor with a passion for creating memorable experiences for others. 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of guests. 
  • Customer-focused with a passion for helping others 
  • A proactive attitude with a focus on sales and upselling. 
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and take initiative 
  • Basic math skills for processing transactions and handling cash 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift merchandise as needed 
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts
