Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is seeking a Senior Property Underwriter to join its North American Retail Property Team in Alpharetta. About the Role :

Our Property Team is looking for a senior underwriter with recognized experience and visibility in the Southeast commercial insurance market and a successful track record in underwriting large and medium sized corporates. Experience with underwriting international program placements is a plus. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Production underwriting position responsible for handling large global structured programs as well as 100% single-carrier accounts (ground-up property programs)
• Accounts vary from Middle/Upper Middle Market, with purchased limits up to USD 500m as well as Fortune 500 business
• Analyze and assess insurability regarding exposures and coverages on new offer and renewal submissions
• Prepare quotations, structure programs, and offer proposals in accordance with guidelines
• Use Swiss Re tools and systems for the development of terms and conditions
• Enter and maintain risk information into the various information systems and administer the accounts
• Establish and maintain a book of business as well as marketing and originating prospects
• Coach less experienced underwriters when necessary
• Lead internal (technical/organizational) and/or external (market/client development) projects
• Represent Swiss Re in meetings with clients, brokers, and other Swiss Re Group entities
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients and team members
• Technical analysis of manmade and Nat Cat property exposures as well as policy terms and pricing metrics
• Structuring capacity deployment and negotiating key terms that align with our underwriting strategy

We are team players that work together to accomplish the common goal of maintaining and growing our regional property book. North American Retail Property is a foundational line of business for SwissRe Corporate Solutions that is at the core of our strong brand. Risk transfer solutions offered through this channel vary from ground up quota share, shared and layered, and single carrier placements. This team also works with our alternative risk transfer group to structure innovative and unique solutions for our clients and brokers. 

About You :

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who can work independently as well as part of our team. To be successful, you need to have strong communication, negotiation and partnering skills, and you must be eager to learn and develop your property underwriting skills.   We expect you to have the following business experience and skills:

• In depth knowledge of insurance,  commercial property underwriting , and the property insurance market, specifically, the SouthEast Region territory
• Minimum 4-10 years' underwriting experience in property underwriting of medium to large corporates including in a lead capacity and servicing insurance programs
• Proficiency in the use of underwriting tools, applications, and guidelines and the ability to interpret and judge the results
• Solid knowledge of market environment and trends
• Strong broker and client network in the region
• Negotiating skills and the ability to handle multiple deals in parallel without losing oversight
• Proven experience working successfully in a team environment
• Good level of energy and pro-active behavior

• Knowledge of complex program structures as well as Single Carrier business is desired
• Solid experience and understanding of Nat Cat and man-made risk management, loss-prevention and underwriting
• Diverse industry experience a plus
• Experience with international programs a plus
• Strong business and client focus with proven business impact
• Proven track record of handling complex transactions/accounts

The role may require up to 20% travel. Swiss Re has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office three days per week .

For Alpharetta, Georgia, the estimated base salary range for the Senior Underwriter level is $156,000 to $234,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
