Job Description

All Points North (APN) is seeking a dependable and professional Safety and Security Officer to help ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for our clients, staff, and visitors. This vital role supports our mission of healing and wellness through strong overnight safety practices and vigilant campus monitoring.

Available Shifts:
• Sat-Sun 8:00 am- 6:00 pm & Friday - Mon 10 am - 8 pm (Please note: hours are subject to change and are provided as a rough estimate.)

Broad Statement of Responsibilities:   The Safety and Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a secure, professional, and supportive environment across the APN campus. This includes monitoring the property, managing access, responding to incidents or emergencies, and serving as a visible presence to ensure the safety of clients, staff, and visitors. Officers are expected to act with integrity, exercise sound judgment, and support the therapeutic atmosphere of the facility through respectful, non-confrontational engagement.

Education: This position requires a High School diploma or GED.

Experience: E xperience with mental health and addiction clientele a plus. Computer systems experience preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet insurance mvr requirements to drive for company. 

Special Skills & Knowledge: Candidates should have the following skills and attributes: strong attention to detail, conflict resolution, communication and listening ability. Must be able to understand and articulate basic mental health and substance abuse terminology; strong organizational skills; working knowledge of substance abuse recovery process and residential treatment culture.  

  • Strong computer literacy and ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Empathy, Compassion, and interpersonal skills to support clients in recovery
  • Problem-solving ability and sound judgement in high-stress situations
  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
  • Understanding of basic mental health and substance abuse terminology
  • Organization skills and attention to detail 
  • Familiarity with resident treatment culture and recovery process

Physical Requirements: The physical requirements described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Routine mobility to include standing, stooping, bending, lifting, walking and running.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for 4+ hours at a time

Materials & Equipment: Basic safety equipment, communication device(s), motor vehicle

Position Duties and Responsibilities – Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring of the safety of the environment of care
  • Surveillance of utility systems including the boilers and fire safety equipment
  • Documentation of incidents
  • Communicate with department leaders to identify issues within the environment of care
  • Patrol all of the properties both inside and outside to ensure safety measures and that they are in good condition
  • Identify any risks and notify supervisor
  • Observe and report noncompliance with rules and policies related to emergency management and the environment of care
  • Orient new staff to environment of care plans and emergency management plan as part of the orientation process
  • Monitoring of surveillance cameras throughout working hours
  • Environmental tours/rounds and documentation of findings

Shift Differential for hours worked 8pm-8am; $4.00/hour
