The Energy Commission II (ECS) is under the general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor in the Transportation Fuels Data Collection Unit in the Energy Assessment Division. The ECS II is the prime subject matter resource in the effort to analyze changes in California resulting from current and proposed state and federal policies on transportation energy. The incumbent quantifies the changes in the California transportation energy market resulting from these changes and acts as the lead analyst in determining changes in pricing patterns for fuel in the California transportation market. The incumbent manages contractor model development to quantify transportation policy goals and regulation effects on California and identify any decision points along the forecast path that require government intervention and synthesize the results of this work into written reports to be used by the California Energy Commission (CEC). The incumbent is also the prime resource for developing alternative and renewable fuels data collection to monitor and assess changes in the transportation fuels market's competitive structure as alternative and renewable fuels begin to displace traditional fuels. The incumbent will be required to work in a team environment as a leader, primary subject matter and technical expert, and may serve as technical support to the CEC management.

The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.
Teleworking is only available for employees who reside in California. You must be located in California and provide your in-state address prior to your start date.
