PARK MAINTENANCE CHIEF I (PERMANENT FULLTIME) – DIABLO RANGE DISTRICT / HOLLISTER HILLS SECTOR / GAVILAN SECTOR / SAN JUAN BAUTISTA STATE HISTORIC PARK
The reporting location for this position is San Juan Bautista State Historic Park, 19 Franklin Street, San Juan Bautista, CA. This position will work under the general direction of the Senior Park and Recreation Specialist.
The Diablo Range District is looking for a leader for the Facilities function for Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA)/San Juan Bautista State Historic Park (SHP). With assistance from the Park Maintenance Chief II/III, the Park Maintenance Chief I has the authority and responsibility to plan, supervise and direct the overall maintenance program for Hollister Hills SVRA/San Juan Bautista SHP. This position manages the daily housekeeping, facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, equipment management and related functions. This position provides leadership, supervision, training, and employee development opportunities to the staff. The incumbent maintains cooperative professional relationships within the community in order to further the philosophy and purposes of the State Park System and ensure clear direct liaison is maintained with local, State, Federal and outside entities with similar roles and responsibilities.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Typical work activities may involve frequent and prolonged periods of standing and walking. May have moderate exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. Outdoor work requires working in a variety of environments including cold, windy, wet, and muddy conditions along lakes, creek banks, wetland, rocks, brush, and off-highway vehicle activity. May require heavy physical work including lifting, pushing, or pulling.
