Our staff training will cover class curriculum, group facilitation strategies, and technical challenge course skills required for the job. You will have the dedicated support and guidance of our experienced staff as you develop your leadership style and gain confidence in facilitating others in outdoor activities.
We provide comfortable staff housing, all meals while you are working, access to the kitchen, laundry facilities, and internet. Cape Cod is a fantastic place to live, and you will have access to a wide range of outdoor recreation equipment to help you enjoy it!
HOURS:
Expect to work varying hours, with some long days, as daily hours are tailored to the needs of our guests. You will typically have two days off for every five days worked.
SEASON DATES:
We encourage our staff to continue working with us in different roles for the summer and fall! In the summer most staff apply to be Adventure Trip Leaders or Outdoor Pursuits Directors (facilitating our high ropes course). In the fall, we hire Outdoor Educators to facilitate teambuilding and outdoor education programming to a wide range of groups, and also provide general facilities support.
Burgess Outdoor Education & Retreat Center is a place to make a meaningful impact while living and working on beautiful Cape Cod. As an Outdoor Educator, you’ll inspire students and guests through environmental education, teambuilding, and adventure programs that build strong connections with the outdoors, with others, and with themselves. Our 300+ acre campus offers forests, ponds, waterfront, and ropes courses, along with supportive training, competitive pay, housing, meals, and a close-knit community, making it a rewarding place to grow both personally and professionally.
