Title: LCMS Laboratory Manager I
Location: Onsite, Pittsburgh, PA 15213
Type: 6-month contract to hire
Hours: 8AM-5PM
Start: Jan
Overview: Join as a Research Specialist to perform a variety of independent and complex laboratory work and experiments. Analyzes and interprets data, compiles results, and prepares data visualizations.
Responsibilities - Majority of their time working on LC/MS sample preparation and data acquisition. Sample preparation methods will include protein, metabolite, and lipid isolation from various biological samples, including but not limited to tissue, cell pellets, urine, stool, and blood-derived samples.
- Following isolation, will perform and monitor LC/MS instrumentation and data acquisition.
- Responsible for analyzing and organizing the LC/MS data collected into various visualization software applications that will be sent to the primary investigator.
- Additional primary duties will include monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the LC/MS instrumentation.
- Involved in completing basic laboratory functions, including maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing supplies, maintaining data backups, and performing weekly laboratory maintenance.
- Must record all work completed in detail in an electronic lab notebook.
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related area required
- Minimum of 3 to 4 years of relevant experience
- Experience working in Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) or other analytical chemistry based sample preparation is preferred
- Strong background in basic wet laboratory techniques such as liquid-liquid extraction for small molecules and protein extraction and quantification
Physical Effort Moderate physical effort required. May be required to sit, stand or move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
