Healthcare Internal Auditor

Salary: $80,000 per year (Negotiable)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Internal Auditor to evaluate internal controls, ensure regulatory compliance, and support continuous improvement across our healthcare operations. This role plays a critical part in identifying risk, strengthening compliance practices, and supporting organizational integrity.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute internal audits in accordance with professional auditing standards.
- Assess compliance with healthcare regulations, including federal and state requirements.
- Evaluate internal controls, operational processes, and risk management practices.
- Identify audit findings and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to leadership.
- Partner with department leaders to develop and monitor corrective action plans.
- Perform follow-up audits to ensure remediation efforts are completed.
- Support external audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance initiatives.
- Stay current on healthcare regulations, audit standards, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional audit or related experience .
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in healthcare auditing, healthcare operations, or internal audits .
- Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory standards.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, CISA, or CHC preferred.
- Experience with healthcare billing, reimbursement, or revenue cycle audits is a plus.
