Job Description

We are seeking a COBOL/DB2 Application Developer/Manager with more than six years of experience in enterprise application development and management. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in COBOL and DB2 , with proven experience maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing mainframe applications critical to business operations. Additional expertise in IMS DB/DC, JCL, and CICS is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities 

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, IMS DB/DC, JCL, and CICS. 
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot DB2 queries, stored procedures, and batch jobs. 
• Support application performance tuning, debugging, and defect resolution. 
• Manage batch processing workflows with JCL and CA Scheduler. 
• Provide production support and ensure system reliability. 
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and operations to ensure smooth delivery. 
• Document technical processes and contribute to system modernization initiatives. 

Mandatory Skills 

• Strong hands-on expertise in COBOL and DB2. 
• Experience with IMS DB/DC, JCL, and CICS in enterprise environments. 
• Proficiency in designing, coding, testing, and supporting mainframe applications. 
• Solid understanding of enterprise application architecture and SDLC. 
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve application and performance issues. 

Desirable Skills 

• Experience with CA Scheduler or similar job scheduling tools. 
• Knowledge of application modernization strategies (e.g., migrating legacy applications to distributed or cloud platforms). 
• Familiarity with performance monitoring and tuning in DB2 and CICS environments. 
• Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing skills. 
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
